Channeling our inner elves has proven yet again to be a fun way to recognize the holiday season. This year, we supported the York Region Food Network’s team in the art of wrapping gifts for shoppers at Hillcrest Mall. We meet the nicest people as they share their holiday spirit with us!
Thank you to everyone who baked / bought sweets for our dessert table! David did a great job bringing us up to speed on both the successes and challenges of his first two years as our Mayor. The Q&A portion of the evening brought clarity to a number of different and complex matters impacting our city’s residents.
Congratulations to Mayor William for his successful application to become DW’s first Student Mayor for a Day! His day included a meeting with DW Volunteers to discuss residents’ concerns regarding development at the Hillcrest Mall location. On the topic of waste management, Mayor William shared information regarding the city’s program to replace damaged recycling bins as well as the availability of blue bins with lids.
The Mayor’s Maple Syrup Festival is a fabulous and tasty way to welcome spring to Richmond Hill. Community events like this depend on the gift of time from many people. DW Community Volunteers helped to prepare the venue and to execute the logistics at the event.
This was our second year walking with the mayor in support of Blue Door. Their efforts in the community to support people at risk or experiencing homelessness is inspiring. See you again, next year!
CHATS was the charity selected by Hillcrest Mall to benefit from the proceeds of gift wrapping in 2023. Our team stepped up and filled many shifts for CHATS. This is a really fun way to catch up with each other and contribute to the community. Happy Holidays!!!

In recognition of CPR Month, St John Ambulance held a free safety clinic for residents of Richmond Hill. Our volunteers assisted and participated in this amazing gift of community safety.
43 years and counting! The annual Terry Fox Run has become a tradition for many in our community. This amazing event is organized by volunteers. The DW Community Volunteers were honoured to play a small part this year.

YBH provides life-saving services and prevention programs to individuals, families and communities impacted by violence. DW Community Volunteers put their furniture assembly skills to work putting together bookshelves and cabinets for the shelter.
